Dreams of my family members
Lo Lok Him

I think everyone must have their dreams in their childhood. So I ask my family members about their dreams in their childhood and whether they have been achieved or not. Also I encouraged them try to draw their dreams on a sketch book. And the results that have taken me by surprise.

My dad is a primary school teacher, teaching physical education. He was keen on playing basketball. Before I asked my dad about his dream, I assume he would like to be a basketball player when he was young. However, he felt embarrassed after I asked. He thought for a long time without speaking a word. After a while, he said he actually didn’t have any dream when he was a teenager. He loved to play basketball but never thought professional player. Maybe dad would not like to share his inner idea to others. Finally he didn’t draw anything on the board.

My brother is studying social work in university. He said he would like to set up a kindergarten in the future. He would like to help the poor or disable to receive education. He wants to contribute to the community.

My mum said she would like to get into university when she was young. As she was poor and didn’t have sufficient money, she cannot enter into the university after graduated from high school. Then she started to work and saved money for further study. After few years, she went to Australia studying nursing degree and completed the course. Later on, she got two more master degrees. What she is holding in the picture is one of her thesis. She was glad to achieve her goal.
