Aquatic life and flowers depicted in the exhibits are themes commonly found in traditional Chinese painting. By utilizing the basic techniques of different brush works that are uniquely found in the genre, not only have the students portrayed the exterior forms, but also express the inner characters and liveliness of the depicted objects.
The course introduces students to the theories and practice of traditional Chinese painting, including Flowers, Birds, Landscape and Figure painting. Through appreciation of masterpieces, in-class demonstration and class discussion, students acquired a fundamental knowledge of the historical development and theoretical issues of Chinese painting.
