The Great Horned Owls freely hunt any animal they can overtake. Their earthy markings are generally colored for camouflage and their yellowish eyes are among the largest in the animal kingdom. This juvenile Great Horned Owl came down to the ground on a rare occasion right after sunset. He was massive in size and on high alert, looking left and right for food. He completely ignored me, while pacing back and forth. Obviously, he wasn’t setting eyes on something bigger than what he could stomach.
