Global Arctics Award Honorable Mention, 2013
A polar bear mother and cub lie on the Arctic surface, all eyes turned towards us. Our boat slowly approached and what appeared to be mother and lone cub ended up being three. The second cub peeked his head above its mom’s bottom, eager to take part in the scene. I shot the image at sunset, at a low angle to accentuate the luminous golden hue, rarely present in the Arctic during winter.
