The long-tailed weasel is a fierce predator and elusive to human contact. I spent several years searching the National Parks of Alaska and Colorado hoping to see it; only to leave disappointed time and time again. Eventually, determination proved fruitful and with the help of my friend, I sighted my first long-tailed weasel along the coast of California.
The weasels are faster than lightning and disappear in the blink of an eye. I studied their patterns and planned to capture an image of one sprinting in mid-air. After hundreds of trials, I succeeded in the challenge. The weasel family moved on from the location a few days later and I never saw it again.
