The exhibits are drawings created by students during the Experimental Drawing course held in the last Fall term. They learnt and experimented with fundamental yet non-traditional drawing techniques, applied them to create a series of life drawings in depicting themselves, their classmates, as well as the happenings in the Library. These works embodied their spirit of experimentation and proved their meticulous observation to the surroundings. Throughout this course, students work with various media and tools to approach a broad range of subjects from abstract patterns to outdoor landscape. As the instructor witnessed and recalled, the students processed their works with passion and curiosity, they are true and honest in making their drawings, and this will open up infinite creative possibilities for them in the future.

Drawing techniques applied in the drawings:

Continuous Line Drawing
The drawn line is unbroken from the beginning to the end. The drawing instrument stays in uninterrupted contact with the surface of the paper during the entire length of the drawing.

Blind Contour Drawing
Fixing one’s eyes on the outline of the depicted subjects, one draws its contour without looking at the paper.

Automatic Drawing
The hand is allowed to move 'randomly' across the paper. To create this drawing, the student held 2 colour pencils at one hand, so as to apply chance and accident in the mark-making process.
